Lyselle Dawnsinger
Lyselle sailed to Eorzea from Tural on a merchant vessel just a few moons after the events of Stormblood. She arrived in Limsa Lominsa with a small sum of gil, respectable knowledge of blue magic from the Whalaqee, and a mission to learn true healing magic from the conjurers of Stillglade Fane.Though much of her spellcraft falls into the category of blue magic, she's been known to use potent, aether-rich spells comprised of unaspected aether tilted sharply, if not alarmingly, to an umbral/light aspect. When asked, Lyselle does not hesitate to attribute this magic to "advanced conjury." That she quickly adds one should not try to imitate. She spends the vast majority of her time in recent moons in the Shroud, completing leves for the Adventurers' Guild and working with the Order of Twin Adders. She is now known for her tendency to encounter and gleefully dispatch voidsent. She's not looking for them, or taking jobs specifically to deal with them. Yet somehow they keep showing up and she keeps destroying them with a combination of blue magic and "advanced conjury."Of particular note, Lyselle’s scales have hardened and are white ridged with gold. This is especially noticeable on her cheeks, tail and horns, which she cannot easily conceal. Anyone who saw her in her early Eorzean days may recall the Turali arrived with the typical cream-colored, flexible scales of the Raen. Whatever caused this transformation appears to be a result of her hunt for ever-stronger healing magic.Lyselle has been blessed with the Echo, allowing her to understand spoken languages and making her own words decipherable to others, even if she reverts back to her native tongue.

- Lyselle can write now... after a fashion. Despite the significant effort involved, several letters appear backwards, and one is regularly upside down. A proper comparison could be made to a small child unknowingly combining the Roman and Cyrillic alphabets. Many notes she writes for herself in her spell book are unintelligible to all but the initiated.- Lyselle draining aether from people in front of the Quicksands and at the Bloodsands with disturbing ease. Ostensibly, these people were willing to give up their aether, however they did not offer it, Lyselle took it. She has also been known to rip aether from unwilling targets while sparring and use it against them, or to heal herself.- The woman attempt to "drink." Her tolerance does not exist, if she is even sipping something and doesn't appear what one might call "sloshtered," it's tea. And it is 99% of the time. The Turali has strong feelings about alcohol, the word foreign in her mouth and often coming out wrong. She'll frequently just call it poison. Same difference, as far as she is concerned.
You May Have Heard...
- Talking about how much she loves the gobbieflock of Idyllshire and enjoyed fighting gobwalkers from the “Illumi-naughty.” One could assume she was talking about the Illuminati, but you can never be sure...- A sobering reminder of the constant warfare she escaped when she fled the far reaches of Tural, untouched by Tuliyollal's peace. Lyselle prefers not to speak of it and instead focus on the new life she's built, yet many of her missions, and companions, benefit from her experience.- A lament or curse that Eorzeans focus on the wrong thing. From a love of coin, to withholding their true feelings, to having opinions about "what one has in their pants" and if that ever matters, Lyselle insists they have it backwards. The Dawnsinger Tribe was insane and brutal, but they knew life was too short, too fragile to be false. Especially to those they loved. As a result, Lyselle has a tendency to be blunt in communication. This doesn't always go over well...- Discussing her ability to remove curses: “I can cure an Ahriman's petrification curse, and inflict it- but you don’t do that to people- and I can cure all the aliments from a morbol’s bad breath! Though it takes a few applications, and I can’t do anything about the smell. Even Moth Magic has its limits!”- A disturbing rumour the mage somehow "ate" the aether of a voidsent like a monster would, even looking like one while doing it. Then sending a barrage of spells that made the hair on the back of her fellow adventurers and Adders' necks stand on end. More feral blue magic, surely. She was a sweet woman and compassionate healer, what else could it be?- A brief explanation on her background: "An arcanist with Mealvaan's Gate said my people were sailors, probably a mix of Eorzean and Hannish, who must have shipwrecked when crossing the Indigo Deep. She suggested the last one when I told her my people have no skill with magic but know potions and poultices very well. I only know blue magic as well as I do because the Whalaqee took me in and taught me.”- Many an enthusiastic tale about her beloved mate, Casval Ral, and their infant son, Altare. While she often speaks highly of her adoptive father, Archidamus Khrysamus, she is equally likely to express disapproval with his lifestyle. He is "one hundred and some odd change," and she hasn't seen her third decade. Yet she feels she has her life together better than he does. Objectively, it is up for debate.
Those with Aethersenses
Sight, Sensitivity, Aetherometer, etc...
- Lyselle's aether has a distinct umbral shift, one that should have adverse impacts on her health. Aside from being the picture of the overworked healer in a group of foolhardy adventurers, she is behaving quite normally, like all is well. Her aether reserves themselves are massive, as one would expect from a mage who dedicated every waking moment to their craft. If she has a strength, it is raw spell power.- Visually, her scales are unlike other Au Ri's, they are even more like stone and that's cost her a good deal of flexibility. Those with other senses and tools can detect they have a capacity for storing aether more akin to a dragon's scales than an Au Ra's, and there's quite a bit of aether locked in there. It is entirely unaspected and equally so umbral within what is otherwise a void, appearing as patches of near-blinding golden light against the rest of her body. A closer look would reveal the aether in the scales is not leeching, and seems to be altogether separate from her own reserves.- There is a tiny, invisible, thread-like tether extending from Lyselle. If she is near Casval Ral, and she frequently is, it is visibly connecting them.- Those with medical training are likely to recognize subtle signs Lyselle sustained damage from holding and channeling far too much aether over far too much time. Namely, partial petrification and the separation of her scales from her aether reserves, and 'burned' aether channels in her body. One could assume her ability to taper her aetherflow, or to use small, precise amounts of aether is severely limited. Assuming she can do it at all.
About the Writer
- I started rp'ing in post-EW to spend more time with my husband, and it turns out, I like it! Lyselle is my first OC and so has a good bit of history behind her, not to mention growth! Updating this carrd (finally) made that crystal clear.- I appreciate short-term lighthearted and goofy rp as well as long-term, deep character development and impactful arcs. And all combinations thereof! Hildebrand and the Sorrow of Werlyt are both canon in this world, so is some rp variety!- Direct, open communication is best with me, and that's how I operate. If I'm unclear, or I upset you, please, for the love of the Gods, tell me so I can make it right. IC conflict is delightful when done well. If you don't say anything OOC, an IC spat is an IC spat. Bleed can be unavoidable, but hurt feelings over it are if we just talk!- By virtue of making complex characters, "mature themes" can come up as part of backgrounds or ongoing plots. This is why understanding IC and OOC thoughts and actions are NOT the same is CRITICAL. Lyselle is a product of her war-torn upbringing. Her takes can be WILD and lacking in ethics she never had the luxury of. Just because Lyselle says it, it doesn't mean I think it.
- Prime example: Lyselle was a child soldier, I served as a military detective for years before retiring. What are the odds we have different opinions on law, order, and Rules of Engagement?
